Hilary Rosen is the new chair of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.
She steps into the role as Sara Putt completes her three-year term. Rosen will now lead the organization's efforts to support talent in film, television, and video games. Her responsibilities include managing the academy's awards ceremonies and its ongoing industry development programs.
Rosen has been a member of the BAFTA Television Committee since 2021. She later served as the chair of that committee. During that time, she helped design the TV and Craft Awards and managed the selection of judges for those events. Outside of her work with the academy, Rosen serves as director of commissioning at UKTV. In that position, she oversees the network's original scripted and unscripted content.
Ade Rawcliffe and Andrew Miller will serve as deputy chairs to support Rosen. Both men have been appointed to two-year terms. The academy also confirmed new leadership for several key committees after an election process. Charu Desodt will chair the Games Committee. Caroline Levy will chair the Television Committee. Nahrein Kemp will take over the LIT Committee. Shrina Shah, who currently chairs the governance and appointments committee, will join the Board of Trustees.
Rosen called the promotion a great privilege. She said she has long been passionate about promoting the screen arts. She expressed delight at working with the new committee chairs and the rest of the board. She described the group as outstanding industry leaders who share a collective passion for the work.
